Turkey informs WTO of possible additional duties on EU steel products
2020-05-28
Turkey notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) on May 25 of possible additional customs duties that may be imposed on imports from the EU in response to the EU’s moves for stricter measures against Turkey.
The additional duties range from nine percent to 17 percent on certain steel products including flat rolled products, bars and angles.
The given products fall under the HTS codes 7208, 7209, 7210, 7211, 7212, 7214, 7215 and 7216.
Turkey has 30 days to suspend the concessions and obligations under the scope of its trade agreement with the EU and enforce these additional duties, SteelOrbis understands.
After the EU started to review its safeguard measures in place since March 2018, it also started an antidumping duty investigation against imports of Turkish hot rolled steel products.
